hello everyone. after a long process of building the proper foundation, i’m super psyched to be able to finally present to you my website and online store – www.jaymccarroll.com. i have enlisted some awesome folks to help me out in creating this little nook in the internet-o-sphere. I want to thank Dave Larkins for all of his guidance in helping me to start building my brand. Dave is VP of Marketing for Digital Ad Agency, NetPlus Marketing, and a friend since kindergarten. Dave is also going to post stuff here now and then. I also want to thank Will Tucker who busted his ass on this site and some of the t-shirt graphics. It’s great to have a place to connect with the fans of my work and actually be able to offer you that work….the perfect meeting of art and commerce i would say.

I am so excited to be able to provide you a place where you can stop in and interact with me. i would encourage you to write and tell me what you think about the website and the online store. after all, it is the feedback from the client that is usually the most important and beneficial to a growing business, and growing we are. i plan to start the store off small and grow, grow, grow. in order to keep the store growing and fresh, i will periodically be adding new product, so be sure to check back often. i have designed a bunch of fun products for purchase in the store which embody my style. the products are comfortable, eclectic, colorful and super fun! as you can see, i am still in love with the circle motif and it dances throughout my work. around and around and around we go. this is a great place for you to be able to stop by
and see what i have been up to and what interesting things i am currently working on. i have plenty of fun projects in the pipeline so stay tuned to the site. in the meantime, why don’t you stay a while, take a look around and hopefully
something will catch your eye! i look forward to hearing what you think about the site and store and don’t be afraid to leave a message telling me what you love or hate. all comments are welcome! see you soon! xoxox jay

Hello Jay. I am first! It is huge honour. Your collection is very optimistic. I like colours. Patterns a bit too much are hmmm… “organised” as for me, but it is generally all right. Don’t laugh at my English, but from languages I was never good. Don’t ever change! You are cool. xoxox Paulina :]

hey jay – saw the premiere of Eleven Minutes last night. kudos to the you and the filmmakers for a realistic peek into the madness of fashion. they did a great job of building the tension and then having the show cap it all off. the denouement was bracing and i’m glad to see you moving forward. the after party was fun too – great idea to have it in the Planetarium, so appropriate vis a vis the balloon theme of Transport. and that Martha Graham Cracker Experience, can’t beat that bitch for puttin’ on a good show. to beat a dead phrase…she’s a hot tranny mess.

looking forward to seeing more menswear from you…

    ciao!

    Hi, Jay!
Super-cool website & fabulous wares! I’ll take two of each (one to wear and one for the McCarroll collection archives…lol). Seriously, beautiful, fun and very you merch.

I, too, attended last night’s premiere of “Eleven Minutes” and floooved it. The whole evening was a blast and you’re really such a doll, Jay. When it was time to head into the theater you stayed to chat and have photos taken with a group of us adoring fans waiting in line. Thanks, again! Good luck with the site. You’ll definitely be hearing from us again soon!

I’ll be watching your site for new arrivals! Love the Parker’s Garden Party tote in terms of materials/design (the size and price are a bit out of my range, though).

Is there a release schedule for Eleven Minutes somewhere? It sounds fascinating (read the writeup by the Project Rungay boys) and the trailer looks great. Hope you’re planning to offer it on DVD at some point!

    Hi Jay-

I’m a big fan of you and your designs and admire your desire to take time with your creative process.

While I like the designs on the shirts themselves, I’m holding out for your sportswear pieces. Is that what will be sold on your QVC line? I hope they will be along the line of what you’ve shown in your shows. Your use of color is always what has drawn me to your designs.

Good luck on all of your future projects!

Any word on 11 Minutes coming to Chicago? Is there a site that will highlight where it will be showning the future, by chance?

Sweetie, it’s fabulous! I’m getting out the card.

Loved to hear (in the PRGay interview) that you’re designing textiles and I hope you’ll offer some big fabric pieces for sale here. Love the idea of tablecloths and curtains. (maybe you can just sell lengths of fabric so you don’t have to deal with manufacturing the tablecloths, curtains, etc.) I don’t sew, but I can make those…

Some other things I’d like to see:
    small zippered bags (pencil cases!)
    any and all housewares
    kiddie tees

Best of luck! We love you.

Jay, I loved your win on Project Runway and followed your path after with great, great interest. You were special because you were honest about who you were on the show, from where you came, and after, and did so with a spirit, not a stupid pose, and that suggested an artistic sensibility, as it was clear you were always having something on your mind, you had ideas – it just feels great to see how you managed this in spite of the haters all around. I can’t wait to see the film, the trailer is perfect.

About your website – I think it would be great if over the development, you tried to find a way to do something more than just the basic image of the shirts in a catalog style. It’s a bit old-fasioned in that respect. I think details would be nice, and maybe even a kind of vid clip with you talking about a certain piece. Not QVC or whatever style, but recall, for so many of us coming, YOU are your line, and so you should be a bit more present in the first moment, not just the clothing, at least in the first time period of the launch.

Just like you seem to be, I would just suggest, have more fun with it – find a special way to introduce your pieces that doesn’t just look like catalog. I think your audience, is the type that wants to purchase because it’s special, has a certain personal atitude or spirit that you bring it from, a context, and not just because of the design or cut. That’s what would allow you to bring pieces out in any context, mass or not.

Just sayin – otherwise, big fan here.

    Jay,
This might be a long post because I’ve been meaning to get online and send you a email of some such shit for… well, since you won Project Runway. However, I am a slackass. Or it could be that I’m shy. Take your pick. Anyways, what I wanted to say to you was “Thank you.” Eh? Why was that again? Thank you, Jay. For years I was known as the girl with the edgy style all her own, yadda yadda, crap crap, all that jazz. Then, one day, for no reason that I could pin point I stopped caring. Perhaps it was one of those years that I had to dress like a yuppy if I wanted to buy clothes and I wasn’t going for it or something. But anyways, I quit caring about my clothes and, other than a compulsive need to dye my hair quite frequently, didn’t give a rat’s ass about how I looked either. If anybody had asked me what my style was I would have said “meh” because I just didn’t have one and didn’t feel like trying. However, I did have a rather phenomenal t-shirt collection. My pride and joy of which is still “The history of art through smiley faces.” But, to get back to topic on why you rock. I watched the first season of Project Runway and saw your clothes. For the first time in years I was seeing clothes that made me smile; clothes that I knew I would smile if I were wearing them. That spark was reborn. I cared again. I had seen “style” that I actually liked and I knew that I could find a style for me to enjoy again. It became fun to get dressed to go out. Of course, my choice of clothing often boggles the mind of many of the folk in my fine southern town, but they are me and I love them (For example, a pair of boots that I had been drooling over for a long time – upon finally getting them for Christmas- were proclaimed by my brother to be “the most unfeminine things that he’d ever seen covered in lace.” I was so proud.) Anyways, when I finally got off my bum and decided to thank you, this seemed like a good place to do it. So, heh, have a long comment upon your blog.

Hey Jay: Good to see your stuff online. The designs are crisp and attractive. A bit young for me, but I look forward to seeing them on people all over the place. Congratulations on your success. One complaint about your site: your photo should on it! I miss that cute punim of yours.

Best of luck in the future.

    Hi Jay,
Just doing my check in- can’t send my normal fewmonth email to your regular address. It was returned to me 2X. Upset, I was even sending pics from my summer adventures and giving you my updates. Happy to hear all of your wonderful news, ie, teaching, involvement with Alex’s Lemonade stand, & PR. Hope you are well and I am looking forward to receiving my T’s. All my best,
    XO, Betsy
